Branding tips might help a few people who use social media platforms. No matter what you do or what you sell, personal branding is always important. People buy from people they like, know and trust.  It is hard to build the trust necessary if people are not seeing the person behind your company on social media.

About us

To have a legal website an about us page has to exist. What many people don’t know, is most people who find websites at some point look at the about us page. This is especially true of someone who has a need and is ready to buy. If as a brand, you are well known and people already know about you, they have no need. They already know you, so see no value in checking out the page.

So where to people get to know you?

This is one of the values of social media. One person I am proud to call friend started his business just before I did. He does most of his marketing on Facebook. At first, he was like “every other marketer.” One of the things he says with no regrets is “I made every mistake in the book.”  In 2011, he changed his social media approach. The marketing he does is now transparent. It combines his life and business. Abdul is a consultant who charges and receives $1,600 an hour for his time. If you provide enough value people will pay what you ask, providing you reach them on a human level.

Friends, followers, and circles

This is the theme of every social media. It is not about business, is it about keeping in touch with friends, followers, and those in your friendship circles. Although people do buy from people they meet, this is not their reason for being on social media. Today, social media profiles are about maintaining friendships and creating new ones.

So how can your brand work on Social media?

If you have friendships with people, they are going to share your posts. This happens when they know you as a person and your personal value to them.  What you share must be of interest to your friends. One of my friends recently reminded me, friendship first. She said, “Every time we talked business came into the conversation.” There will be a time for business. On social media friendship should always come first.Social media cartoon females

Branding tips

Be real, be yourself. This is what people are looking for on social media. There will be a time to talk business. This is after you build a personal friendship with those you meet. Always listen for their needs, and if you can’t fill them leave business out of your conversations, unless you are asking for referrals.
