Change is a given when you are building a brand. Those who are best at adapting to change are the success stories. You have to look at your personality, is accepting and making changes something you do naturally, if so your chances of success are better. For the others it is still possible if you are willing to adapt to an ever changing world.  

Building a brand

If you are in business, you as the business owner, your company, and your product are a brand. In every case, this holds true. What you will find holds true for the most successful people, all three are part of their business plan. It is important to start with branding you. People with needs first look to people they know, like, and trust.


The first step in know, like, trust is networking. Entrepreneurs start with it. Without a doubt, it should always be give and take. The concept [you give and I will take] is never the best approach. It isn’t about money at first, at least in the sense there will be money in either pocket with a first, second call or contact. We have all been in the position where someone calls or contacts us and we hear all about them and how we should purchase their product. My question to you is how long do you let the person ramble on? It is hard to build trust when it is all about you and your wonderful product. The point is; in networking, pull works better than push.

As a business owner, you have some marketing, advertising, and networking going on.  What people see is your personal/company identity. It covers both online marketing and what you do offline if anything. A question to ask of you is how do people perceive my company and me?

What is advertising really about? The simplest truth is…..What value you providing for your customers right now! For those who are personal branding, make it personal. Personal and product exposure is what advertising is to provide. The question “What is in it for me (the possible customer) this minute” is the best way to explain and create advertising copy. How many people have heard about a “special” a fast food restaurant is having, and actually decided to eat there because you just heard an advertisement?

Adapting to change

You need to ask yourself, how effective is what I am currently doing? Am I building my brand or am I branding another? What teaks can I make to improve my networking? Is my marketing creating an identity others will be willing to follow? Is my advertising bringing people to me now.
