This is a question asked of me today “One professional to another - what do you look for in an online business?” and my answer. If a potential business does not meet these requirements for you, chances are you should look for another online business that does.

This part of my reply is probably going to be different than most. My business was created out of a genuine care to help others succeed in business. This is something I have been doing in one form or another starting as a teen.  Branding and marketing proved effective for me starting at age 15. Since then I have been successfully helping others build or enhance their brands. To my knowledge, no company owner has ever regretted hiring my company or me.

For residual income since my business is digital I look for programs that are digital and enhance the brands of the companies for whom I create. Two examples of this are and They both create residual income. Both are also branding tools. This answers, “Are you a product of your product?”

How to become a magnetic marketer

What I have learned from other marketers is what business you choose should depend on your personality. Will you enjoy doing it? Does it fit your existing lifestyle? Will it still fit as your lifestyle changes? Is it fly by night or will it still be a viable way to earn in 15 to 20 years.


Hubpages pays me without any monthly fee. V smart costs $299 a year. I can use both to promote other companies as well as my own. I don’t have to recruit to earn with hub pages, recruiting only enhances my earnings and no at the expense of the other writer. V smart is my only online business card that promotes only my company. It is; a tool that pays in many ways.

Another aspect is; are you going to be constantly recruiting to replace people who "don't get it." How many people a month or year are you going to have to add to maintain or increase your earning ability? Does it help people realize their dreams? Is it simple to tell your brand story in a way that people will be able to relate as they create their own once they become buyers? For my business, it requires four starts a month to remain viable and earn a decent living.


Something you need to consider is how much training you will have to do. My sponsor in V smart does the training for those I recruit, He didn’t train me to create the V smarts. They were simple and took less than two hours.  Hubpages has a community that does the training. This saves me time in that less of my time is required for training and more is available for networking. Each person is different. I wanted the smallest amount of saleable items possible so I could learn each one in a short amount of time.

One person I know of made over a million dollars a year with only 67 people in his sponsorship line. This was before the existence of the internet, as we know it. He of course spent his time training those he recruited.


I know a few people who are very successful promoting more than one product. In each case, the products have a synergy. One builds upon another so the end result is earnings from more than one source. In most cases, it is a basic MLM with a product, and then the programs and teaching it takes to market the MLM, which also have MLM type payment plans.

I have yet to meet anyone other than the fly by nights who earn $50,000 or more a year without using at the very least the phone. The fly by night’s income dries up quickly.
