As you are building your brand, you will find there are many companies who self-promote shamelessly. This is something a professional rarely has to or wants to do. What should you promote? How you are going to help others? What are you going to do for customers above what the competition does to add value?  Then how are you going to create an emotional attachment?

Commitment


A few years ago, we designed and put together a website for Bob and Summer Judd. We met them on IBOtoolbox and learned that they were independent contractors for a company they are not to name in their advertising. This means they have to brand themselves personally or see little if any business.  We built them a simple self-branding website, which remains in place to this day. Our commitment was to build the website theirs was to use it. At this point we don’t know how many visitors they are seeing a day. At one time is was close to 500.

Can someone take what you share and build his or her own brand?


Curtiss Martin has always said he takes responsibility for his own mistakes. His brand was created using what we share in our press releases. He took the ideas and concepts we bring forward and used them to create his brand. We have spent time with him in personal chats and emails explaining in more detail what he needs. These conversations aimed strictly to his needs. He has always been free to take what he wants and leave the rest.

Our hope is that everyone understands value proposition


If you learn to share, what your value proposition is, this will bring more potential customers to you. What it boils down to is explaining what you are going to do for your customers that your competition is not. This is one way you are going to help your potential clients and customers.  Curtiss uses this line. Free means free, it is also something he believes strongly. This doesn’t mean it doesn’t cost money to run his business. He pays for hosting his website, his domain name and has a lot of time investment. Since he is committed to his business this is not a problem.


Do your graphics stand the test of time?


A good graphic should create interest in your business and retain the ability to do this until the platform it is published on, changes sizes or other criteria. The graphics you use should say something about your value proposition. It should also be the same on every social media you use.  If you find a graphic doesn’t do what you want then keep changing it until you find or create one which does.
