Building a brand; personal relationships

Building a brand; personal relationships

Why are personal relationships a necessary part of building a brand? Just like in life who you know is as important as what you know. Do you have the necessary knowledge to complete every part of opening, running, and increasing a business?

With whom should you build personal relationships?

There is no single group or person you shouldn’t build a relationship with. Do be cautious about those who want money from you if they aren’t providing enough value.

How it all fits

Each person you meet is going to fit in a category. Some will help you promote your business. Others will be buyers. Yet others will help you with the nuts and bolts of keeping your business legal and running. In a few instances, the person could be a supplier of something you don’t yet know you need.

Building relationships

How many working relationships start with a sales pitch? In my life, it has been very few. Those were when I was looking for something and I accepted a high-powered sales pitch because I had a real need for a product or service. Most people don’t.

Not about you

This is the first thing you have to realize when building a relationship. It is never going to be about you. Yes, a person may become a buyer yet it is not always going to happen. It shouldn’t matter. If it does, you are not doing what you should be.

Two ears one mouth

Too many people act as if they have two mouths and one ear. You can’t learn about people if you don’t listen. They can’t fill a need for you or you for them if you don’t know what the strengths of each are.
Strengths and weaknesses

No person is strong in every area. It takes four disciplines to build a brand. As of yet I have not met anyone who was or is an expert in all four.

What those who understand branding do is have others promote their brand for them. IBOtoolbox is one program that does this effectively. Others promote the program because they also gain.

Personal relationships

IBO is a great place to build personal relationships as long as it is done correctly. If you force feed your business to others, they are going to do what any person would do. They are going to ignore you. Building personal relationships is the best approach anyone can take to business. In the best relationships, both sides gain. This also creates a brand that is built to last.
