Building a brand; Social media marketing

Today there was a request to learn how to market on Facebook. There is only one Social media site, which accepts its role as a seller’s platform. Those who use it as such have the same failure rate as any other business if they use it only as a sales platform. 

Interaction

One of the Facebook pages we work with is doing fantastic.  The secret to any media is interaction. If you can find one person who will interact with your posts, others will follow. You do not want to be sharing too many links. The personal relationships you build through interaction will create word of mouth advertising and more customers. 

Call to interaction

With many of your posts, there should be a call to interaction. Ask questions; if you post graphics, you can still have this call to interaction either above the post or in comments below it. It is better though for another to ask the question in comments. 

Tell don’t sell 

On social media, you are not trying to sell. Many people make this major mistake. What you are looking for is interaction. When this happens, you start seeing the viral reach you are looking for. 

Place links judiciously 

This doesn't mean that visitors shouldn't know how to reach your website or the links you want them to see. Most people do not buy the first time they see a website. With this in mind, list building should be your top priority. 

List building

Don't make people buy to get on your list. With the list you have a way to continue to reach them. If you don't have an auto responder that leads directly to you this is something you really need to consider. 

Informed decisions

We use two free programs, one is a newsletter the other a regular auto responder. Again, the focus is not to sell. The focus should be sharing more information of the type the searched to find you in the first place though. People want to make informed decisions before they buy. This doesn't mean you shouldn't provide links to sales pages upon occasion with a clear call to action.

Personal relationships

What works the best for most internet businesses is building personal relationships with those they meet. It makes no difference if you are selling a product or bringing new members into a MLM. How deep you take the relationship depends on whether you are selling products or a dream. MLM'ers product is a way for people to reach their dreams.
