Building your brand; social impact and SEO

As you start marketing your brand chances are you will want to start building generic traffic. Most people believe generic visitors start immediately. This only happens if you know what you are doing. The social impact plays a large role in being found on a page one. So how do you use Search engine optimization (SEO)? First you must understand that to find the right people your keywords must be words YOUR audience are searching. Without social media and SEO tools chances are you are going to get it wrong. This is going to cost you time. No one we know can afford extra days or weeks figuring this out. Your keywords are the most important part of Search engine optimization Keywords, tags, Meta tags whatever you choose to call them must be in your content. When the search bots crawl they are looking specifically to see that what you have used for a tag fits what the searcher is looking for. Important When the search bots crawl, if they don’t find the tags/keywords in your content they move on. This means your potential reader is not finding you. It doesn’t matter how many people have read and commented, to the search bots your article doesn’t exist. Social impact Social sharing and comments once you have keywords in content are going to make a difference. Search engines like to see social interaction and sharing. In most cases where people are sharing creates a PR10 backlink which is something else search engines love. So what are the search bots looking for? The same thing your readers are. They want quality content which pertains to what words a reader searched to find you. If they search and find your keywords in comments and social shares these add value and you will be placed on the page one a reader is searching. Is there a magic number? Not that we are aware of. Needless to say if an article has 100 or more comments chances are readers are finding it. Will they find an article with only 10 comments and shares? It depends on the niche and several other factors. One is; are you a proven expert in your field. This brings us to another important point Are you an expert in your field? How does a search engine decide? In essence the search engine doesn't decide; your readers do. How do readers decide? Comments and shares, these are what the search bot is going to see. If you have followed the guidelines they have set forth you can become an expert with just one article. This doesn’t happen often so if it doesn’t for you write more articles to the same niche/keywords. Google’s guidelines To become an expert Google wants to see several articles of between 550 and 1000 words written to the same set of tags/keywords. This can be found on videos and blogs written by people quoting Matt Cutts who oversees the Panda and Penguin updates. Where does social impact come into this? If a search bot sees an article with no comments or shares it doesn’t matter how many you write you won’t reach a page one. Your work has to make sense to the reader and make enough of an impact on them that they want to comment and share. How do you start finding people to comment and share? It almost sounds like this is a gigantic mess. If people don’t find you they won’t comment or share. If you are not on a page one how are they going to find you? It is not as hard as you think. People in your niche are looking for information. On social media they will click through and read an article which has an attention grabbing title. So now it comes full circle Without social media you don’t know what keywords to use. It is your social media readers who are going to put you on a page one so you want to be writing to them. Today, writing to the search engine which many writers have done is no longer a good idea. It will likely find you articles on page fifty or deeper if they can be found at all.
