Building your brand; “identity and image”

You are rolling along building your brand, believing you’re creating a great image for your company, then someone comes along and says nice identity, what image do you plan to portray? Now you are probably thinking what difference does it make anyway? Brand image is how “others feel” about your brand This is why it is important to understand the difference. What a visitor or customer feels about your company is most often decided by action or inaction. It is also where personal and company ethics come into play. What is meant by this? Consider you are one of two companies in a small town which deliver pizzas. How are you going to separate your business from your competition? What you offer that your competition doesn't will make a difference. Delivery time promises, customer service, payment options, and extras, all come in to play here. Even a social cause can make a difference to your bottom line. What is brand design? It is putting together the factors which ultimately decide how people are going to see and feel your brand in action. All brands are designed to be interactive. This interactivity should be happening at your base of operations. It can be a physical location or a website. In some cases it can be both. Even the delivery person putting your goods into a customer’s hands should be part of your overall design. Ok what does this mean to you? It doesn't matter who you are, what business you are in, whether you are self-branding, have built your own brand, or had someone build it for you, “You” are a brand. This means any action you make, you personally as well as professionally take, somehow reflect on your image. Marketing is part of design also Where your identity is used is as part of marketing. It is how you are recognized by potential customers as well as repeat customers. It also has a big part in your marketing plan and advertising campaigns. It is the visual representation of your company. It should be seen in every media you use to represent your company. Uniqueness We have seen others lately saying your logo is what will be most remembered by new people seeing your business. This we have never believed to be true. It is the brand design they are going to remember. Our belief is that it should be unique to your businesses needs yet easily identifiable by those finding it. Designer label One of the odd things we have been finding lately is people are actually allowing us to add the fact that we created their covers, to their covers. We just liken it to people wearing designer jeans. Our work should speak for itself and we have no problem adding this label. We hope it helps them. Image is about feelings Your entire brand design is what determines how visitors feel about your brand. Brand design is more than your brands identity. How you treat potential customers as well as customers and returning customers and how they speak about you are all part of your brand image which you don't have total control over. © May 17, 2013 7:30 AM CDT Dennis Thorgesen for Lisech eMarketing, All rights reserved.
