Building your brand; overwork

Building your brand is often time consuming work. It doesn’t happen overnight and some people have a tendency to overwork. The work is important, time off is too. What are the best ways to avoid overwork? First you have to realize it is not always possible to complete every task you set for yourself when you have planned. The way we deal with it is a list is made when the computer is shut down. What didn't get finished from “today’s” list is move to the top of tomorrows list. Have a set number of hours you work each day. This doesn't have to be set in stone. Just a guide so you don’t end up stretching one day into the next. This is something many internet marketers find themselves guilty of. This is something you really don’t want to do. A fresh mind can accomplish more than a tired one. Take breaks There are very few employers who expect their workers to work without a break. There is a reason for this. Those ten or fifteen minutes give the mind a chance to relax. Most people add a little snack which energizes the body; others make phone calls to check on family. The most important thing to remember is give your body and mind a break at least every two hours. Meals For the first two years in business as a general rule meals were served while we worked. What we found is this isn't a good idea. This year time is taken away from the computer. Meal times are scheduled to where there is 45 minutes with no computer or phone interruptions. Understanding down time There are times on social media that the majority of people aren't either online or paying attention if they are. These are the times you should be using to create content. In our case this time can also be used to modify photographs or create graphics. It is also a good time to be putting websites together for clients. It is not a good time to be making outgoing phone calls however incoming calls can be accepted. Rome wasn't built in a day Many people new to business believe if they do it all and quickly this will speed up how fast the income comes in. If you burn yourself out you have accomplished nothing. What you should be looking at is the long term capabilities of your business. What you will find If you structure your day, doing the most important things first, or in their correct time slot, you will feel less stress. If you make massive to do lists you are wasting your time. Plan on what you believe you can accomplish in a day and maybe a few extras. Most of us can do more than we are currently doing without overworking ourselves. ©May 15, 2013 5:15 AM CST Dennis Thorgesen for Lisech eMarketing, All rights reserved.
