Building your brand; minor content reputation management

As you are building your brand you will find you make minor mistakes. There are times when these fall under the reputation management category. There are times when these happen do to no fault of your own. This article is about published content The area this mainly concerns is content you have published. There are times we all hit wrong keys. It is human. What about the correctly spelled words which really don’t work in the sentence you wrote? Is it worth the time and effort it takes to correct them? Do you worry; making corrections to your work will hurt their rank in a search engine? These are all real fears people have What do you do? First if you have an article with a high bounce rate you can guess visitors are leaving for a reason. Making corrections will often help in this case. While you are working on them see if you can find a way to make your article more compelling to the reader. Will it hurt your page rank? In our experience for a short time it might. If you are in business for the long term it is nothing to worry about. We have never known a search engine to pull something from a page for a few minor changes. Negative comments about spelling and grammar The best way to deal with those who leave negative comments is clean up the article. There are free programs to help if you can’t afford to pay for one. Until we found the program we use now two of the options we used were gmail and Hub pages. Both have spelling checkers as part of the program. Gmail is the slowest and hardest to use. This we used most on borrowed computers. Kingsoft office If you haven’t earned enough to pay for a windows office program and would like many of the benefits without charge, kingsoft office may be the way to go. The only free program we have found which offers more is for the Linux operating system. http://www.kingsoftstore.com/kingsoft-office-freeware.html One of the benefits of Kingsoft If you are like us and have been around long enough to use keyboard shortcuts this we find works well with kingsoft. Crtl “A”, Crtl “C” on your content before you post and using Crtl “V” to post will move an article from your computer to where you plan to post. It is one of few programs we have found which will leave the spacing intact and doesn't include HTML. What happens when you can’t edit something you wrote? Most programs which allow content want them to be accessible for changes if necessary. What we do is do our best to learn how to edit or stop them from being found in search results. Generally something with too many errors won’t be commented on other than by people giving you a clue to your errors. In most cases there are not many so unless you share to your social media there isn't much to worry about. What happens when you find errors you don’t believe you made? If you can correct them by all means do. If not; do your best to keep them from showing in search results. One of the tips we were given is copy and paste the offending article then publish it to another platform. Nothing will remove you faster from a Google rank than duplicate content. Proof reading For best results and to save the need for minor reputation management have your content proofread by another party. This can be a friend you trade services with if you can’t afford a paid service. These suggestions we hope will aid in the building of your brand. © May 7, 2013 5:00 AM CDT Dennis Thorgesen for Lisech eMarketing, All rights reserved.
