Your branding; brand bounce rates

Bounce rates can be both a good and bad thing for a brand. Your branding can work two ways where bounce rates are concerned. People bounce for two reasons. They found what they were looking for and purchased your product or joined your list. Or they found nothing of value and left.

Which type of bounce are you seeing?

Websites contain content. Many website owners feel bad if people don’t stay on their websites and read them. This is not the way you should think. The professionals don’t care if customers stay on the website if they opt in. With the opt in they realize most if not all will be back.

How to set this up

On your webpage you want an opt in forms where customers can see them anywhere they are on your main page. Never make them back up to opt in. When it applies it should also be available on other pages as well.

Consider value

Give the people a reason to opt in. Offer something people in your niche have a need for. Offer this free or with a low price. Most people can afford a few dollars. If you charge make sure you over deliver. For website opt in forms we recommend free. If not, color choice is going to make a difference.

Why free works better

Most people who visit websites are looking for information. They are going to find it in your content and if you offer free information they often choose this method to receive it. Once they leave the website they may never find it again. If you have given value in your gift, then your auto responder series chances of a visitor becoming a customer has improved.

People like gifts

The words Free and gift have a different meaning to most people. Some people are wired in a way to them receiving gifts means they are loved. Instead of using the word free use the word gift.

With a gift too people don’t feel they will be required to respond in kind. Yet the way many were raised leaves a feeling “maybe they do owe you.” Free doesn’t always mean free, gift always means you have given because you care.

What this means to you

You now have a way to reach this person who has visited your website. They either searched a keyword or were given the link and it is something they had an interest in. In every case this is considered a warm lead. If they opt in your websites job is finished for the moment.

What auto responders really do

If a visitor can’t find your website again and find they really want the product or service they are going to buy from a website they can find. If they are on your list your website URL will be available to them. Your gift as well as your series should have given them value and a reason to choose you when they are ready to buy.

Where bounce rates come into play

If you are receiving a lot of opt ins and have a high bounce rate you website is performing as it should. Returning visitors should be checked in analytics often. The time a person returning stays on the website is what you are looking for. Their visits should be longer and not bounces.
