Why email marketing for your brand is important?

The majority of people who visit a website don’t buy on a first visit. The most effective way to get them to return is contacting them again. This is done with an opt in box on the website. You have to give them a reason to opt in though. This is an email reply to an associate who has just set up an auto responder series.

A few things I forgot

You have to give people a reason to opt in. No one is going to opt in if you don't give them a reason. Never make anyone backtrack to opt in. What this means a reader needs to be able to see an opt in box no matter where on the page they are.

What we see as working for you

Training emails work and might be the way to go for you. You are offering training in HTML5 and Gimp. If you get up to speed on PhotoScape you can give pointers for that too.

Newsletter option

If you don't want to use that method explain that you are using the opt in box for a newsletter. In reality not much different; other than you don't have to send as often. Sending once a month is an option for newsletters. You can offer your readers "a bargain" or something you believe will be of interest to them in a newsletter also.

What works according to the experts?

Those in the know say you should only send emails after the first ten, once every three weeks. Follow ups and special offers don't count. Follow ups should be mailed day two and three after you have something "of interest" for your readers.

How we believe you should start

I would start with a five day series, hold two days and send another five. It takes between 7 and 10 exposures for people to be a first time buyer. Doing it this way you have all ten covered. Then wait two weeks and send a follow up of two to three emails. After that; go to the three weeks.

Other uses for auto responder series

If you have something you are selling send one, follow up two days later, send a third the next day which says order now or miss out. Rinse and repeat every three weeks. Always give value.


The most important part; most people in the world are not well educated in English. To reach those it is better to write at a sixth grade level.

Treat those who opt in with respect

Explain to them exactly what you want them to do. Do not use; buy here. Something simple like follow this link works fine; but mix it up.

Other timing methods

Another way I have seen it done which is also effective is send the emails the 5th and 20th of each month. This way your readers will know what day to expect them.

In conjunction

Many people now are using email marketing in conjunction with snail mail post card marketing. The reason they use post cards is a customer doesn’t have to open them. About everyone will take the time to look at a post card, and those which aren’t put in the trash immediately will be laying around for them to find at a later date. Post card marketing should always be branded.
