Brands like people need mentors. Lately we have been working with a tutor. No one knows everything. We are aware online tutoring works because our company founder earned a living at it for years. Just under a different “name.” Mentoring is a form of tutoring.


What do mentors and tutors do?

What do tutors and mentors do? They help you find out where to look for the information you need to perform the task you hire them for. Many teachers base what they want on what they consider common knowledge. What some consider common knowledge isn’t in the brains of the generations coming after.

Where do you learn what you missed?

This is where mentors and tutors come in. They are experts in helping others find the information their teachers are looking for. College is about learning where to find what you need to answer the questions you and others ask. Most people who mentor or tutor know the information, if they don’t they know where to find it. The best guide the student to where the answer is.

How does this apply to internet brands?

This is going to be handled from personal experience of a brand building company owner. When most people start an internet business not much thought was given to branding.

Most start business based on a dream.

Many people are entering internet marketing in search of a way to work from home. They at first believe if they just share their links people will just sign up. What happens when using this approach?

Not much.

Most internet products and MLM’s are now based on attraction marketing. If a person seeing a company spiel is interested they may join or buy a product. If they don’t know the person sharing a link in most cases some will slip the last part of the link, joining the company direct. In most cases they just won’t bother.

What you need to do

What is needed is a way for the people you are going to expose to your product or service to know who you personally. In the case of brands what the brand stands for.

Why is this important?

You want people following you or your brand. Not just your product or MLM you belong to.

Marketing vs. Advertising

Advertising means putting information in front of an audience. Marketing in reality is a form of advertising. Instead of wanting people to be seeing a single product you are putting your brand in front of them. Fast food retailers as well as restaurants have been doing this for years.

Marketing should be based on attracting

Subaru™ found that for their product people who bought their cars “loved them.” Their campaigns always allude to this in some way. From personal experience I have found this true. After buying one I found it fun to drive, as responsive as anything in its class and it delivered on its promise. It was the first vehicle I owned which required only routine maintenance.

Why mentoring is important
