How To Write Sales Copy - Power Words That Cause People To Buy


A General going to war has whole armies at his disposal.


A doctor treating a patient has a team of nurses, pharmacists and a wealth of research to draw upon.


But you and I, we are sales warriors, alone in the jungles of commerce. We bear skills and products which can change lives, yet we have no army, no medical team nor the benefits of research.   All we have is words.


We must learn to harness their power.  We must discard those whose potency is thin or absent and choose only those which draw the readers to our products and services.


Words will make or break your business.


Description alone is not enough.  That’s perhaps for journalists, but for us we must bring our ideas to vivid life in the mind’s eye of our readers, ignite desire, create passion and fan the flames of enthusiasm.


Just as we thought we had broken through to a clearing in our jungle, we find ourselves faced with what appears to be a massive obstacle.


We hate selling!


A moment’s examination of the obstacle, however, quickly reveals a path around it that is flat and easy to tread.  Because the truth is, people sell to themselves.


As long as we can arouse an emotional response so that, in addition to understanding, they feel that we hold the key which solves a problem for them, they’ll come closer.  They want to buy.  And they’ll love buying from us.


Of course, these ideas can be refined and crafted to a very high level, but these principles will hold good for any modern sales copy.
