Affiliate Marketing Cashes In On Utilities

The utilities that provide electricity and gas are legal monopolies which means they have exclusive rights to customers in their region. They own the infrastructure that delivers the supplies to your home so whether you like them or not they will always be your utility. As a result you will always pay them for delivery and taxes. These utilities would also respond to service calls and emergencies.
Multi-level marketing companies have moved into the energy business, how can they do this when the utility is a legal monopoly? Being a legal monopoly means you can't make a profit on the sell of energy just the delivery therefore the utility is not too concerned about the influx of alternative suppliers. In fact for ten years the cost of electricity was frozen and now that period is over meaning cost could increase dramatically. Hence legislation allowing for alternative suppliers to keep the cost down.
The utility does the billing as well as deliver the energy which takes a lot of responsibility away from the alternative supplier. One alternative supplier that is an MLM is Ambit Energy they are not alone of course. While I am not in any alternative energy supply company I believe it is a good company to partner with.
If you are considering joining one of these companies what you should be aware of is customer loyalty and concerns over being scammed. The solution, sell the customer on the amount of savings they will have compared to the utility and convince them you are looking forward to a long term relationship.
