Today I was reading an article about dogs and the fact that it's summer, your dog can overheat. It shares how to notice and how to address the issue. It was an eye-opener for me. I have a little Maltese and he is very hyper and funny.
He just started a new habit a few days ago. He stands by our screen door (that leads to the backyard) and just stares outside. I recognized that is his signal he wants to go outside.
When I let him out, he goes directly to a spot where the sun is shining and flops down. It is funny because he seems like he is just enjoying life (working on his tan). Now fortunately we have shade where he can go if he starts to get hot.
Did you know if it is over 70 degrees and you walk your dog, you are putting them at risk of a heat stroke? 70 degrees. It's summer, your dog can overheat quickly. I know 70 degrees will occur at night here in CA. Bottom line the article was impressive and I felt it need to be shared. It ain't right. It ain't wrong. It's just my opinion.

 | | Another tip Jason. Great to know. I am taking it all in. I just got the series that I shared. It is a training system and it is good so far. I believe (just like kids), the parents are untrained and blame the kids (dogs). Getting the knowledge and using others experience can create a smoother ride. |
| | | | | My wife and I have several dogs and we look for the signs that they are getting hot; because, it is so easy for them to over-heat. One of the things our vet told us is to let them play in the water, making sure to cool their arm-pits. |
| | | | | I agree with you Terri. They are family and bring a lot of joy. Thanks for your time, energy and comments. Enjoy my friend |
| | | | | I'm a dog lover myself Ron and this is true. We love our pets and must take care of them. If they die then you have lost a family member because of the love that's inside of you for your dog. ~Terri Pattio - MLM Coach/Mentor with a servant's heart |
