Schedule - Did you say schedule? schedule, my schedule, set schedule, how to schedule

I don't need a schedule, I have every thing stored in my head. It is the greatest organizer, it travels around with me, which makes it a simple process.
Well this was the way I thought in the past. If you are a person that knows the secrets to how the brain works, it is the greatest tool in the world.
With that said, there is no human that fully understands all the workings of the brain, the capabilities or more importantly how to actually use it. And for most of us, it would be a waste of time trying to figure it out. Especially when all you need is an organizer. Something that has every hour (that you are awake) on it. So why put that unnecessary work on the brain?
You should actually know what is going on in your life at every given hour. Does that mean, you are a robot? No, it means that you have control over your schedule (which means your life). I remember a gentleman in one of the businesses I have, make the comment that what changed his business career was when he started setting his clock to go off, every hour that he was awake. Now I am not suggesting you do this, but if it will work for you, take it and run.
Some of you are asking why would you do that to yourself? Well he said every hour this exercise gave him the opportunity to do 2 things. 1) recognize what he did the last hour to see if it was moving him in the direction he wanted to go and 2) make the adjustments and get back on course (if he was off). This exercise made sure he did not allow a day to slip away.
Again I know for some this is crazy thinking and it takes too much time. The reality is, it gives you more time. Yes, more time. It is very few people that recognize how much time they are not productive. (Note: Let me clarify that taking a nap in the next hour might be the most productive thing to do. Just plan it).
I used to do an exercise with our team and clients when people talked about how busy they were. You can try this yourself and you will be shocked at the results.
Well everyone has 7 days in a week and we all have 24 hours in that day = 168 hours per week How many hours do you sleep? 8 (and we know a lot of people don't). So 8 hrs x 7days =56 hours Take the 168 hours (per week) and subtract the sleep (56), which means you have 112 hours remaining for the week. How many hours for dressing for work?..... You get the picture. Be honest with your answers. You will be surprised at the results.
So of course the question is what are you doing with those remaining hours? Every one I have done this exercise with has been amazed. They start pulling on the hair (trying to figure out what they left out). You will always hear: "I know I left out something". Yes you did. It is called not having control over your schedule.
Another tip before closing: plan out each hour what is to occur. What will happen is you will not check your email every hour because you have it in your schedule to check early in the morning and later in the evening. This keeps it off your mind because it is already planned for. You are going to be amazed at how much stress you will release when you plan out your day.
It ain't right. It ain't wrong. It's just my opinion.

 | | Thanks Johnny and Dennis for stopping by and sharing. I agree Dennis that planning has gone out the window and that is why most are not achieving what they want in life. Like you said Johnny, we need more. |
| | | | | You are on to something here Ron. I think it boils down to a relaxed focus and lack of discipline. Not very many of us actually schedule a time that we will check or emails, or update our auto-responders or even when we will write our next blog for IBOToolBox....mind control? We need more. |
| | | | | We are noticing in the current upheaval we are in, planning has about gone out the window. When the day is planned things run like clockwork. We have managed to keep up with the most important things like training, placing ads, keeping the phone answered, and the emails answered. |
