How to be Light-hearted in a
Challenging World

Someone with a light heart is always cheerful and carefree. We may yearn to be the same way, but sometimes it seems impossible. With the everyday challenges, which may include family, financial, or even dealing with illnesses, among other things. It is almost impossible to be always cheerful under these circumstances. Almost! But it is possible.

How to be constantly cheerful

1. It starts with a positive attitude.
Our happiness does not depend on our circumstances in life but our reaction to those circumstances. If we have a positive attitude and find some humor in difficult situations, we will not be weighed down with negative thoughts and feelings.

For example, someone with a chronic illness may not be able to do everything she used to. Instead of focusing on that, she could focus on what can still be done, and learn to enjoy and appreciate those things.

2. Walk away from harmful situations
Do not cling to things that cause you harm. This can include friendships, or romantic relationships that tear you down, instead of building you up. We should never feel that we wasted our time. Rather, we should be grateful for the lessons learned in such relationships.

3. Let go of resentment
We have all been hurt by many people. We may have a reason to take offense, but resentment only robs us of joy. We can choose to talk things over with the one who offended us. If that doesn't seem pleasant, we can choose to let go of the matter. Besides, most of the time when we feel offended, we make too much of it. Shrug it off. Don't make a big deal out of it. Letting go is the best option. You never want to lose a good friend over trivial matters.

There we go, it is that simple. Well, it is simple, but it may not be that easy. We are all human. We do have days when we get down a bit. The difference is in how we react, and how fast we can turn things around. It takes practice, working on our attitude, and recognizing how we react when things happen.

Even though it is not easy, but it is definitely worth the sacrifice of learning. We will be joyful, have peace of mind, and we will always attract people of the same character, who can build us up, when we need the help. Be joyful. Be cheerful, and enjoy a happy life!
