Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are

Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are

Malcolm Forbes is one of the more influential people in the world. He is also a very successful entrepreneur, and is well known for publishing the Forbes Magazine. One of his better known quotes is "Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are".

His quote is very well portrayed at a poker table. Great poker players know how to act strong, even though they may hold weak cards. Their opponents may think that their own hand is not good enough to win, so they fold.

In a real-life situations, we look at what appears to be a successful person. We see the way they dress, their mannerism, and we put value on what looks like a success. In a lot of cases, that person may overvalue him or herself, to compensate for the lack they feel inside.

In our own business I dealt with a number of what looked like successful people. They really had me convinced by the way they acted. Unfortunately, when it came to paying the bills, they were no where to be seen. Don't be fooled by appearances.

Always remember, a truly rich and successful man does not bother trying to convince you that he is rich and successful. Only people who pretend to be rich do that.

When you look at yourself, do not try to convince other people that you are valuable. You are a valuable individual. Let your actions and results speak for you.

Do not measure yourself against appearances of success, and never undervalue yourself. You are a unique individual and have your own sets of talents and skills. You are a success in your own right.
