SOCIAL MEDIA: Blessing or Curse?

In the early sixties I wrote a paper called, Television: Blessing or Curse. And now in 2017 a similar question looms on the horizon.

I ask the question not because I have the answer, but because it is one of those conundrums that on the surface may defy a definitive answer at this present time. Social Media is still evolving.

It seems new platforms are being introduced almost every year. According to hubsitehub.com there are over sixty social media sites available today.

My hope in writing this Press Release is that many would express their views on social media. Is it a Blessing or is it a Curse?

Some feel it is a ticking time bomb that can explode at any time. They site such things as privacy intrusion, identity theft, cyber-bullying among children and others.

Even though some fears have been minimized by promises of protecting one's privacy, one is haunted by the memory of past failures in this area.

On the other hand one can find reasons to be blessed by this technology. Who can deny the benefit of being able to see and talk with almost anyone instantly from almost any partof the world.

Who can deny the value of having important news go viral within a short period of tiime and go around the world.

For entrepreneurs... What a blessings to be able to promote one's business through social media. What an opportunity made available through facebook, twitter and linkedIn.

Please read and comment. Your reaction is important. Be Blessed.
