If I Could Do It All Over Again...

The first thought of course is there are so many things that I may like to do over, where might I begin. Since I can't go back and do them over again, I will here choose the most important.

The first thing I needed to do was to decide what criteria to use to identify the most important. What one thing has the greatest impact on the things that I do.

Sometimes we do things and quickly ask, Why did I do that? Had I stopped to consider the impact upon me and those around me, I would not have done it, but now it is too late.

Now back to the criteria. It must necessarily be something that would have the greatest impact on my evaluation of who I am.

As I look back on some of the decisions I've made and some of the thing I have done, I recognize that some were the result of my upbringing and the socialization that society superimposes.

If I could do it all over again, I would decide on and act upon those things that lined up with my values and goals. Recognizing the uniqueness of my personhood and the gifting that my Creator invested in me; that I am obligated to discover and develop this gift to the benefit of myself, family and the world.

Too often we find ourselves succombing to the pressure to conform, to fit in, to go along with crowd.

We experience freedom and power when we live out of who we really are and can let our yes be yes, and our no be no.
