Retirement vs Working

Retirement vs Working (Men Only)

Too often we forget that we ae made in the image and likeness of God. He is eternal. He never stops being who He is and He never stops doing what He does.

One way to appreciate this concept is to observe the atom which is forever an atom. Although the electrons and protons of the atom may change and thus transform a particular subatomic particle, the atom (the nucleous) remains and is forever an atom.

Man is endowed with the facility to live forever; at least the spiritual side of man. The physical returns to the earth.

We find in the Book of Genesis, chapter 3, verse 19: the sweat of his face, the man shall provide his sustinence until he dies.(a paraphrase)

The Net of It...

The man was not intended to be idle for an indefinite amount of time. The mind must be engaged. We should never stop learning and exercising our mental and physical capacities.

A continuing but reasonable regimen of the above energizes and excites us.

To some extent, life is like our biceps...the more we exercise and use them, the bigger they get.

I was moved to write this post after reading a Press Release last week about the value of continuing to work as opposed to retiring. The writer indicated that he appreciates his working beyond "retirement age" and continues in health and financial soundness.
