What is the true value of money?

What is the true value of money or how is money to be used?

This may sound like a frivilous question on the surface, but do we really understand the purpose and power of money? To drive the point further, if we understood money better, why is it we are never satisfied with the amount of money we possess; and, why doesn't money bring lasting satisfaction?

Someone once asked Mr Rockerfeller how much more money d he needed in order to have enough. His reply was, "just a little bit more".

What might we say about Mark Zuckerberg act of charity?

It does give reason to reflect upon Biblical teachings concerning money.

Money is a medium of exchange. The means by which we procure the things we need and want. That makes a lot of sense but then we are challenged to put aside some for a rainy day. That's reasonable but how much do we put away? That is the Question.

The answer will depend upon our understanding of the purpose of money from God's point of view, not man's. (And that's a real problem)

Before man was created, all provisions needed were on the earth. Today, all we need is on the earth. We are trustees of earth's resources which were designed to sustain us.

Therefore, those who are blessed with greater resources may reach out to others with lessor resources. If not for moral or altruistic reasons, certainly for selfish reasons. We are interdependent and no one could survice along on this planet.

The ultimate reason would be for the Love of God.
