Why Be Thankful ???

Better Yet Why am I thankful??? I found that  when I genuinely give thanks to someone I sense I release something to them; something of value; something that makes me feel awkward or unprepared to verbalize my feelings. But after having said it I feel refresfed, even empowered.

I think it does as much for me as for them. Then why don't I thank others more often? Especially if I believe that it more blessed to give than to receive. And I do. For now I leave the question for social scientists to answer. In the meantime let me share three things, aside from others, I am particularly thankful this Thanksgiving Season.

I am thankful for my Children...

Who dispite my short comings have grown up to be wonderful marriage partners (except one) and great parents. I remember on one occasion while out  to dinner with my oldest daughter, people would stare at my grandchildren because they were so well behaved. I was astounded too. I thank God for them.

I am thankful for my wife...

I prayed for a godly wife. Did I get one?  Well for the first few years I didn''t think so. But after recalling I had lived alone for over 20 years and recognizing how selfish I had become as a result of ALWAYS having my way, I finally realized that I too was part of whatever was going on at the time. I am now convinced God answered my prayer. (Man was not made to be alone no matter how much sovereignty men may think they need. God knew what He was doing when He made them male and female.

I am thankful for the revelation of God in my life and the peace and joy that comes from knowing Christ as Lord and Redeemer...

We are directed through Scripture to seek first the Kingdom of God...and then we are told that the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink (keeping the rituals) but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

HAPPY THANKS GIVING TO ALL.
