The Power of the Past

The power of the past can be overwhelming depending on how one values those experiences. Let me first put forth this disclaimer becuse I wrote a Press Release sometime ago entitled, "Why is it hard to let go of the past?" The Past I was referring to was the negative experiences in our past; not that we should attempt to forget all things in our past.

As I was looking back over my past... I was drawn to my early childhood days and was amazed at the surge of energy I felt as I recalled certain experiences. I recalled our impressed I was when Mr Harly (who owned his cab company) spoke to our class during Black History Month. To me he was the epitomy of success and I wanted to be like him. He was well dressed, articulate and spoke with confidence and enthusiasm. I could be like him, I thought. I kept that image in my head for many years.

Twenty-Four years later...

Twenty-four years later I left a great job with IBM as Branch Manager to strike out on my own to launch my first business.

I felt just as confident then as I did when listening to Mr Harly.

My close friends on the other hand thought I was out of my mind. But I felt confident and full of energy and could see only possibilities.

In the meantime and over the years...

Of course we know things change over time and we see the ebb and flow of success and decline. Nothing is static. Over the years I have learned valuable lessons. This is what I'd like to share today: I've learned that all our experiences teach us something and are therefore beneficial. Life brings potential for Good and Bad; that potential is not a respector persons. One of the keys is to embrace the Good and give as much as you can to others and be open to healing from the Bad.

Thanks for taking time to read my Press Release. Please and Comment, Like and Share.
