Is God Fair???

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE WE HEARD "That's not fair!"?
For a long time I have been trying to embrace with comfort, the term "fair"
That's not fair...this is not fair...
The question is how does one determine what is fair. By what standard? By whose standard?

By definition "fair" means free from bias, dishonesty or injustice. Sounds good so far. The problem arises when the application of fairness varies with the individual without regard to the definition above.

The greater problem arises when we apply the question to God. for example,
is God fair when He allows suffering to come into our lives? Is He fair to allow parts of the world's population to live in poverty?

With man one can understand more readily why one might ask that question.
It is determined by the degree our freedoms or expectations are curtailed. It is determined by our preferences, biases or needs. We tend to view fairness from our perspective.

The truth of the matter is that God is not fair. He is sovereign. He is the one who determines what is or what is not. What's right and what's wrong. Ultimately He determines how things ought to be.

Some where along the way man got the idea that He is here to serve in the achievement of man's goals and not the other way around. We sometimes forget that God made man for God's purpose.

My conclusion therefore is that when our goals line up with the will of God, we succeed. Success is doing with joy and enthusiasm what God has empowered us to do. wishing all much success and joy.
