First Day of the rest of our lives

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives...
To some this statement might sound like an old cliche, but there is real power in those words. The power comes from seeing NOW for what it is without the contamination of yesterday. When we look backwards while trying to go forward our thoughts are often clouded by the negative experience of what has or has not happened.

Better said than done..
One way to clear the mental landscape is to ask a number of questions:
1) Was the experience helpful? 2) Did I learn from the experience? 3) Could I have performed differently, 4) Were there alternatives available to me at the time? 5) Did anyone benefit from this experience? If you answered yes to all these questions you should credit yourself for having done your best in that particular situation. Its usually the guilt feelings that keeps us rehearsing those negative experiences as we try to recreate the desirable outcome.

We must make an honest assessment of our experience, forgive ourselves, and thus clear the landscape to allow for clear, objective thinking. It is here that we are open to new possibilities.

THE KEY THAT MAKES IT HAPPEN is a positive mental attitude fueled by keeping a clearly defined mental picture of our goal.

Today is all that we have. Tomorrow is not promised and yesterday is already gone. TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF OUR LIVES.
