Good Advice or not

HAVE YOU GIVEN ADVICE TO OTHERS?
How often do we give advice to others but at the same time fail to heed our own advice when we find ourselves in a similar predicament? For some reason we seldom think of what we have advised others to help them when they are in a similar situation. What does that say about our advice? What does that say about us?

TOO OFTEN WE RESPOND TOO QUICKLY WITHOUT DELIBERATION
Sometimes our first response is out of emotion and our anxiousness to help; out of the desire to show our support for the one we are advising or our need or desire to be the hero of the day.

advice, caring, uplifting Quotes

First of all we should make sure the person is looking for advice. In many cases they are looking for someone to hear them out. Someone to just listen to what they have to say. This gives them the opportunity to process the matter and figure it out for themselves. Even though they may ask our opinion, we must be discerning so that we respond appropriately.

SO HOW IS ONE TO PROCEED?
To begin, make sure the person has had a chance to vent their own feelings about the subject. One might ask such questions as, why do feel that way? or is there anything else that may be involved? The idea is to allow the other person to explore their own feelings which could possibly lead to clearing their mind so as to see more objectively and thus lead to a better outcome.
