We Get by Giving???
On the surface this may sound unusual or even inconsistent... but is it really? Where am I going with this? Some of us come from traditions where we were taught to work hard, save your money and one day you will become successful. So we set out on this quest to achieve this ever fleeting success, relying primarily on ourselves to make it. (To make matters worse, it was not made clear what this success looked liked and it was constantly redefined.)

But what about GIVING?

How do we get by giving? Well, there are basic laws are principles that govern life on the earth. We fail or succeed depending on whether we ignore or cooperate with those laws. Fortunately nature provides many examples to observe. One kernel of corn when planted produces a corn stalk which grows several heads of corn, which when planted produces many more stalks of corn. Wow! From one kernel? What a return on investment? This example becomes more extreme when we examine the pomegranate and its many seeds.

The Key: The corn had to die. Yes, the seed had to die before the new stalk could appear. Why? Science may suggest an answer, but God knows and has ordained it to be so.

We are almost there...
"...who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross..." (Hebrews 12:2) Christ gave of Himself by dying on the Cross. Out of that death came life, everlasting life.
The act of giving out of Love takes us out of self. It is selfishness that enslaves us and separates us from the joy we sense when we give. When we give, we feel free, joyous, energized and empowered.
Just as God puts multiplication in the corn seed, He puts joy in our hearts when we give. When we give we assuredly imitate our Heavenly Father.
