Communicate or Discommunicate?

oiseaux 06.03.71.87.37

In my last Press Release it was noted that IBOToolBox affords us the opportunity to promote our businesses through our joint efforts of working together. One of the key factors in cooperative enterprises is the ability to communicate effectively. But, increasingly we find it more and more difficult to communicate with others such that they hear what we say and understand what we mean.

Not only must one be careful to avoid emotionally charged words, but often struggles to choose the appropriate word(s) to convey what meaning is intended. How often are new words invented in todays world? Between the Bloggesphere and TV programming, new words seem to be birthed monthly.

Why is this I wonder...

If I may advance one theory... It appears we are abandoning the concepts of absolutes and the principles of right and wrong. We seem to approach things obliquely, leaving wiggle room to move in any direction for the sake of expediency. A likely cause of this is in my estimation, is the inability to separate fact from the stories we prefer to believe about the facts. And if we do this skillfully enough, we then believe the stories to be fact. If this be the true, it will certainly color our communications as we converse withone another.

To test my theory I challenged several friends by asking, "is that a fact or what you believe about the fact?" I was quite pleased with the responses, and they seemed to have appreciated the challenge.
