Building MORE Content Through Internal Links

You are a wonderful source of content ideas. If you didn’t know this already, I am going to explain what the heck I am talking about here.

Every page you create on your website has A LOT of content.

Going through the existing content on your site is an excellent way to build out your site, and building out pages to further help and explain topics. I also call this “site elaboration”.

Google also rewards sites with internal links. It leads to better indexing, better rankings, and more credibility within Google's search results.

If every page of content on your site links to something externally, guess what this says to Google? It tells them that you don't even think your OWN content is high enough quality to link to, so why would they give you rankings.

Internally linking is highly beneficial and I walk you through the entire process with this lessons video.

Task 1: Create a list of 5 Content Ideas from your Existing Pages

Your first task is going to be going through your content and finding 5 brand new ideas for articles that you could write on your site. Remember that every page you write does not necessarily have to focus on a particular keyword, it DOES have to appeal to a reader. You can do both for the best of both worlds.

As you can see here within an example page on my site, I have come up with a “concept” for new content that I could write.

In this case, I would create content on the “fear of failure” and elaborate on this idea in my own personal way.

Go through your content and record 5 new content ideas from within your existing content. Make sure you also record the actual pages that the ideas are from so you can later interlink to your new content efficiently.

Task 2: Create ONE post based off of your new found content idea

Your next task is going to be to create a post based on one of your new content ideas. Remember, write your content in a natural way, be opinionated and try to engage your audience.

You do not have to focus on a keyword with this post, rather just write to write (all quality content is going to get indexed in Google at some point).

Task 3: Interlink to this post from your website

Your last task is going to be linking to your new post from the page in which you revealed this “content idea”. In the case of my website, I found a content idea where I was talking about being able to “try something before you buy it” and I linked this to my page on guarantees and trying before you buy.

As you can see I have linked to my new, relevant page. Note that it does not have to be on the exact same keywords, however I am linking under a catchphrase that is definitely highly relevant.

If you find any other places on your website that would make sense to link to your new post, I recommend that you leverage that interlinking opportunity as well.
