Social Networking Websites - Where Is The Focus?

What do I mean by that? These social networking websites are optimized for SEO purposes. All that means is when you see a share button on it, this is so anything you share from there site it will be show up as coming from there link. It is branding them, and you do get a small benefit. If someone clicks on the link it will come back to your profile. You better believe that they will ask them to join. Yes you will get credit for inviting them, but most likely if you are not upgraded then it really is not that beneficial for you.
Don't get me wrong, the site owners want you to interact and meet people, but on the other hand they want you to tell others so they can join the site and then guess what happens next. They're on the site owners list and they get to send emails to everyone who joins.
These are people you have referred to them, and then they get to promote to them to, either to upgrade or some offer they are currently marketing. Hmmm! Isn't that what you want to happen. Did a light bulb just go off. Don't get mad, this is how works, but the thing that sticks in my craw is this.
Where is the focus?
The focus is not on you at all. It's was taken away from you because you are busy inviting all your friends to join.
You want to brand YOU on the internet, not the social networking websites.
