Stung in the But!

Today I was stung in the butt. Started my morning off real good with waking up ten minutes late for my younger son Parker to go to school. He has to catch a bus at 7:20 a school for Autism miles away. I was totally freaking out but I sometime wake up late due to his bad sleeping habits. I always get him on the bus in time. So I was detemined to get him on the bus today because my older son Hayden was having closing day at school for his Shape Program he attended for 5 weeks. It was going to be a special day for me and Hayden to hang out together so there was no way I was going to be late because I had to take Parker to school. So I rushed him to the bathroom for a shower. I dried him so fast it was like he just stood under an industrial dryer. I told him to get dressed and it takes lots of time for Parker to comply so I grabbed the clothes today and dressed him myself. Then as I was putting on the last piece of clothing I had remembered that Parker was off from school on Friday. I was apologizing so much to Parker because what we do every morning is a routine to him and then I had to tell him he wasn't going to school today. Mommy is so sorry she made a big mistake. Also made the mistake of missing out on some much needed sleep. Then it was Hayden's turn to get on the bus and I told him I will be there with you at 10am. My Mom agreed to sit with Parker. I am so grateful that she did that for me. It is not an easy task watching him. An example today was no sooner did I drive away he had dropped bags and bags of open snacks down the steps. I got to see the mess because it was still there when we got home. Waiting for me to take care of it. Off to Hayden's school now where we met the students and staff in the library for the directions to a scavenger hunt. If you found the treasure box it was a great prize. Many gift cards for many different stores. We had to walk around the school and find other students and staff that had clues to the puzzle we had to unscramble after we got all the letters. It was really fun spending that kind of time with my son. We didn't win but we were ok with it because one of his good friends did. We were very happy for him. Plus it was a lot of fun. Then off to the Gym where we watched the students participate in some special games they made up. The game he first went to play was with a hockey stick and a puck. He never touched a hockey stick in his life and it took 3 times for the teacher to show him how to hold it. So then he hit the target 2 times and no one that had tried before him hit 2 yet. I was so amazed. Then a girl came up awhile later and she scored 3. But he still received a silver medal for a kid who never touched a hockey stick. But this wasn't the end. We went to get some refreshments to sit and watch a movie about the 5 week journey of the shape program. My son piled up the plate with cupcakes and cookies and as we were leaving a teacher asked Hayden if he had enough food. We laughed and said yes we do. We walked into the room and I announced that we had cookies if anyone wanted one. Well they just about wiped the plate clean because some people didn't know to go get refreshments. We were so happy to help and I said to my son we had done a great deed for the day. They started with awards and one was Perfect Attendance that my son did receive. He also received a Perfect Attendance Award in the mail for the 2011-2012 school year. We were so proud of him for attending a whole year of school without missing a day. He was the only one that never caught the flu in our house this year that we all seemed to be passing around for months with no end. He always sits and plays the XBOX in his room so basically he was quarantined. LOL. He's a very smart boy and his grades were always straight A's and B's He had even been on the principles list a couple times. But as he got older and got some friends it's not cool to be smart in school anymore. So his grades did a little decline over the year. So much that it might hurt his chances of taking his favorite class which he maintained an A throughout. The class is Band. He is in percussions and is especially good and a few things that even high school students could not perform. He is being taught by the music teacher from Rowan College in Glassboro, New Jersey. What is funny is that he tried out for percussions in elementary school and was told he could not participate anymore because he just wasn't getting it. If only that teacher could see him now. So unless he passes one of the 2 tests he took back in March he may loose his band class for the 8th grade. So we are waiting with our fingers crossed for the grades to come back sometime in August. This year his guidance counsler recommended the shape program for him and told us it was an honor for a student to be asked to attend. All my son knew is he had another 5 weeks of school he did not want to go to. But he forced himself to go and found out he was having the time of his life in school. They had so much fun while they were learning and everyday he came home so excited and ready to go the next day. They got to go on a few trips and thats something he is not used to. All the other schools he attended most of the times canceled their trips because another parent sued for something that happened on a previous trip. His most exciting trip this year was going to the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Stadium and got to walk on the field and sit in the dugout. He got to visit the press box and see all the behind the scences stuff. On Wednesday he came home so excited to have a paper airplane contest. He never made or flew a paper airplane before because XBOX was more fun to him then stuff like that. So of course I didn't think he would win but was proud that he was working so hard to perfect his airplane. When I went to pick him up from school on Thursday he got in the truck with 3 out of 5 awards for his paper airplane. One for Target Accuracy. One for straightest flight and the last for best design. I was so shocked and was ashamed that I didn't give him the credit he deserved. All day long as I walked through the halls teachers were commenting on how well Hayden did and they were all so proud of his progress. I do know Hayden has it in him but who would believe it when he just darn near passed the 7th grade. Although on a reading comprehension test they got to see he reads at an 11th grade level. We taught him to read when he was 2 and he was reading and writing at a second grade level in kindergarten. He read a Harry Potter Novel in the second grade and received trophies for participating in the 100 book challenges until he had trophies up to 1000 books. He is exceptionally smart but I don't give him credit because he shows no effort to us. Although he liked the program he was in now I could still see the I hate school attitude. So now for the next award. It was for a student to receive one of the highest awards there was to acheive. I was listening to the teacher give her speech about how great this student was. I was saying wow everytime they said how exceptional this student did. Here is the speech almost word for word that I had heard. The shaper of the year award was for a student that came in as very enthused and very creative. No matter what we had them doing they just jumped right in with 2 feet. Whether it was creating a monster or reasearching on the computer they were just very excited overall. On top of that also this person. Well in Shape we do a pretest when they come in to see what they come in knowing and a posttest at the end to see how they have grown. This person had a perfect score on the posttest. For all the multiple choice and open writing which doesn't happen very often. So our shaper of the year is Mr. Hayden Meyers. I yelled out Oh My God. I was not expecting to hear them call my sons name with the student they were describing. I was tearing up when he was receiving his award while all the teachers were gazing at me. It was such a great feeling to see him so happy to make his mother so proud. Then we watched the movie with pictures and videos of their five weeks at the shape program. It made us laugh and cry to see how much fun they all had and how they were going to miss going to the program. I heard lots of mothers commenting on how their kids hated that this was the last day when they were all so upset just like my kid to attend another 5 weeks of school. At the end of the movie they gave out tickets to the Phillies game on Sunday and Hayden got 3 of them. He is taking his Grandmom and Grandpop to the game with him because they were the ones that made it possible to live in a township where he wasn't afraid to go to school and could participate in such a great program that gave him the biggest boost of confidence. Ok so now the day was over and saying goodbye to everyone. Smiles, laughter, and tears everywhere. What a perfect end to a perfect day. But not for me. After making sure my sons awards and projects he took home were safe in the truck, I walked around to get in for the drive home when, I felt the most horrible burning sensation on my rear end. I started to pull my shorts out away from my body saying OMG what the heck is that. It burns so bad. It still got worse and worse like my rear end was on fire. It started to move down to my foot and by this time the left side from my rear down was so stiff I couldn't move it. So I dropped my pocket book and my keys on the ground and started pulling my pants down in the middle of the parking lot. I didn't care who saw my rear I just wanted that burning to stop. My son told me a wasp fell out of my pants and he was walking on the ground. I actually wanted to step on it but I didn't. So know I had to drive my son home and I couldn't even sit on the seat to drive. I couldn't call anyone either because my cell phone was dead from taking pictures and videos. I had to just tough it out and drive home and get some rest. I wasn't feeling very well already and was so scared that I might have a reaction to it while I was driving. I started to feel a bit light headed but my son has a very level head in an emergency and kept talking to me and making me laugh through the ride home. We even got stuck at our road which has been closed off due to construction and I had to turn around and go 5 or 6 miles out of our way to go home which was only 4 houses in from where the road was closed. When we got home and I told everyone what happened they all just left and went out for the night leaving me to cook dinner for everyone else. So needless to say I got no rest. When my husband came home and looked at what had happened he found 4 wasp bites on my rear that were swelling so big my rear is starting to look like a lumpy watermelon. I should be sleeping now but I had to write my blog for the one I spent 2 and a half hours writing last night did not upload correctly and I accidentally erased the draft. So hope to be in bed soon after I post my blog. I said to my mom that I didn't understand how when we did such a good deed today sharing the refreshments we had with others that God would say to me here you deserve a wasp bite in the a**. She laughed. But then I started thinking maybe it was Gods way of saying I didn't give my son enough credit. So here's a bite in the a**. Here's to today a day of joy and pain. Stung in the but! LMAO
