Do You Watch The News?

Do you watch the news? I never did when I was little and I would always stand in front of my mom while she was watching the news and try to tell her something. She would say get out of way and be quite I am watching the news. I would say who cares about the stupid news anyway. When I became a Mom I say the same thing now. How ironic. I now understand why my mom told me to go away. Because the news goes so fast. If you blink it's over. It gives you the whole world in 30 minutes. Actually 20 minutes because most of the time the last 10 minutes is about sports. I like to watch sports and root for my teams but when it comes to all the news about it I'm lost. I stopped watching the news for awhile because it is always a day of bad stuff. But who wants to see good stuff on the news. If the world was filled with nothing but good what would you have to talk about on the news. But seriously I hate to see bad things. Especially when they make me angry. I hate to be angry over things I can't help or change by myself. This year from the start of the new year till January 25, 2012 there have been 31 homicides. There have been at least one a day. Mostly Philadelphia ends there years in homicide totals with over 365. That's an average of one a day. This year we had quite and interesting story to follow about a tire slasher that kept slashing tires in our old neighborhood. Some people were getting their tires slashed at least a couple times a week. It was getting ridiculous already. It was making me very angry too. There seemed to be copy cats out there also. So the story ended with a man who was always talking to the news crews saying he would love to catch these people himself because he would break all their arms to make sure they never did it again. Turns out he needed to break his own arms. He was the one doing it for the thrill of seeing himself on the news. With the help of surveillance cameras that people are mounting to their homes so you can get a view of the street there have been so many crimes solved. Yesterday afternoon a video came in of a 10 year old girl being picked up by a man and trying to carry her away while her 2 year old brother stood there screaming. The girl bit him and he dropped her and struggled with her to pick her back up but dropped her and ran away. The 2 kids were walking to their Dad's house only a couple blocks from their house. The camera shows the whole struggle. The people who owned the camera just moved to the street this month and neighbors and the girls parents are grateful that they installed cameras. The 10 year old girl said she learned how to get away from her attacker by watching Law and Order. How cool is that? We saw an older gentleman get attacked and punched and knocked to the ground and the kids ran away. They didn't even steal anything. They just did it for fun. We saw an older women walk between two stores, that I shopped out everyday when I lived in Philadelphia, get robbed and pushed to the ground. This kind of stuff causes me to be outraged and it makes it easier to deal with by watching the news caster that I personally know from my town that I grew up in. He gets so angry and he just says what ever he wants on live TV. In Philadelphia they say there is at least 10 children reported missing everyday. This news doesn't even include what happens in the town I grew up in. Camden New Jersey. Featured on Dateline as the most poverty stricken crime ridden town in America. There is always something happening everyday there but you really don't hear much about it in the news for some reason. But I get the updates on whats going on because my brother is the head of the Camden County Prosecutors and he has told me recently that Camden is keeping him real busy. I get mad when I see things that happen all over the World and I say to myself why watch the news. So I turn it on and watch a little while I am doing my work on IBO and I watch mostly when something catches my attention. But I have to admit the only reason it's on is because it comes on after ELLEN.
