Would Anyone Know?

I was wondering today, after the recent news about what could happen to our computers on Monday July 9th, if the World was about to end would anyone know? I have talked to so many people that say all they do is work on their computers all the time. They rarely touch the Television anymore. The television is the quickest way to get us vital information. I do try to at least once a day to get a quick glance of my local news. Takes 20 minutes to fill you all in. The rest is commercials. One time I had stopped watching the news because of all the bad things going on. It would make me so angry to see things I can do nothing about. I was reminded one day of how important it is to at least keep an eye on what might be going on out there. One day while playing on the XBOX we heard a loud explosion and it rumbled the whole house. Then we got a text asking if everything was okay. We lived in NorthEast Philly at the time and we got the text from our friends in New Jersey who also felt a rumble at there house. Right down the street the block had a Gas explosion and it was so bad we had to leave. It would have been a shock to us to have the police banging on our doors. So we were well prepared to leave in time. But if we had had a source of news on we would have known even sooner. When you are playing with your XBOX, IPod, IPad, Computer or just plain sitting there and reading you would never know if something was going on that you needed to know. Television has Emergency Alert Systems to tell us important things and the National Weather Service scrolls a beeping warning across the screen for severe weather. On the day we were moving last year in August we felt the whole house shaking for a few seconds. About 10 seconds or so and then my husband started to yell to me "what the hell is going on". Our 50 in. TV was shaking violently and almost fell of the stand. Then it was over. The Television happened to be on and it let us know quick that we just felt an earthquake that originated in Virginia. We live in New Jersey. It was a scary day because we had to drive over a bridge to move and we heard on the news that they were sending people to check the integrity of the bridges. I was canceling moving day because I refused to drive over the bridges but we did it. Last week several states had horrific storms that lasted for hours and hours. My state was one of them. It's been a week and many people are still without power. We were so fortunate to keep our electric when miles down the road people we know still have no power. Our house was spared from trees falling in our yard and drive way. Just a long week of clean up for us. It is important to have a source that uses the emergency alert system on at all times. On very low as not to bother you. I am afraid with the temperatures we have been having here and reaching 105 tomorrow that when this weather breaks we are in for some scary stuff. We need to be prepared and keep a way to let us be warned. We may get a tornado in a place that it's unheard of. If you are suffering along with me good luck to you and stay out of the heat and keep on listening for when you may have to take cover.
