Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July everyone! What a day to celebrate. The year the Declaration of Independence was signed. Does anyone know what that really means? Or do we just enjoy the day off from work? Or the Fire Works? The Barbeques? What is it that you most like about it? Do you think the men who gave us this freedom would roll in their graves over the people who have no idea what they did for us? I'm not going to get into the history details because I am giving you a way to go see for yourself what Independence Day should me to us. There are of course others out there that don't need to know cause they are from another country. I couldn't imagine living in some of those other countries. It's not that there is anything wrong with the other countries. It's just that I feel bad for the way some of them have to live. I couldn't imagine not having the freedoms that we have. But there are some weird things happening to our country. Some of our freedoms are slowly being taken from us. The freedom of speech is one that is always tested. I do know that I am now talking about the Constitution. Independence Day means that we were freed from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Was that a bad thing to be part of Great Britain. Someone must have thought it was. The Constitution has alot more do with freedom. The freedom to choose what we what to do. We can sing and dance in the street if we want. In some countries they would probably chop your feet off. But there are some disturbing things that are country does. Like one of the things they just passed that everyone has to have health care and pay for it on their own somehow or face a fine. I just don't get this. And the bill they are trying to pass for us not to be able to choose want we eat or drink. Well if I should have to pay for my own health care why can't I down a super size burger or soft drink. Even though things I can't control make me angry I am still so proud to be part of my country and I would never leave here for any reason. Cause I might find myself standing in a long line to get one roll of toilet paper that needs to last me month. What we should be celebrating on this day is the soldiers that have been fighting for our freedom since 2001. These soldiers are forgotten about when we are going about our day doing all the things we like. I often remind my son to think about those men and women who make it possible for you to play your video games everyday. Without them over there keeping us safe from harm and making friends with other countries for us who knows how we would be right now. Many of our ancestors fought in different wars. But some of them really didn't make much sense to fight. Some of you believe the war for the past 11 years should not have been started either. But things have changed since the Battle of Gettysburg and we are in much depper trouble then just a couple of Generals with lots of pride. General Meade who fought in the Battle of Gettysburg was an ancestor of mine. He is from my Mothers side. My Grandmother is a Meade. I am happy to read about my history but still don't know if that war was neccesary. What ones really are. I believe the one we are fighting now is one. So as you go to your Barbeques and FireWorks shows today remember all the people that made this all possible for us. God Bless America Oh and don't forget to check this out. A different kind of freedom
