The Dangers of the Day at the Amusement Park

The Dangers of the Day at the Amusement Park I read an article today that reminded me that it was Summer again and time to take the kids to the Amusement Parks and I'd like to take a few minutes to let you know the dangers of the day at the Amusement Park. Some parents hate to rush through the parks from ride to ride and stand in line to see their kids go on a 40 second ride. But not me I am right there with my children in those lines, rushing through the parks looking for the fastest rides they've got. My Husband and I before we had children went to Amusement Parks all the time. Chasing the largest fastest coasters there are. We traveled to many states looking for the best Roller Coaster around. The fastest one we have found is in my own state. KingDa Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. It is the tallest roller coaster in the World reaching 45 stories high. The fastest coaster in North America going from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds. And what a ride it is. The first night I rode it an autistic guy was getting on it for the 100th time. Now to the dangers of the day at the Amusement Park Running and Horse Play Many people will stand at the entrance until they take that rope down to open the park. Mostly younger people will dash to the best ride they want to experience and not realizing the dangers they might even cause. There are also many people who will run through the line to get up to a ride faster. This has caused many injuries to unsupecting people. Another thing is teens with season passes that attend the part often start to get bored and start horse play. They climb into unauthorized areas and just want to find the next exciting thing. This has even resulted in people being hit by roller coasters. Dehydration Whether it the hot sun or the night before drinking hang over if you are not hydrated you will not have a good time. And chances are you will pass out on your first ride. Make sure you carry water or are able to purchase as much as you need at the concession stands. Most amusement parks have ice cold water foundations. Take avantage of them. Avoid soft drinks and lemonade on your trip. They will only make you real thirsty and dehydrate you faster. You will tend to drink more and then just slosh around on the rides and not feel very well. Cell Phones and Loose Change You may have seen this before and told the story may times of seeing someones cell phone whiz by your head. A near miss.and sometimes not. Loose change and other various items that are not secure and can cause damage to a ride while in operation or it could severly hurt a person on the ride or even down below. How many times can you count seeing an object whiz by you as you go down that first big drop. I once saw a girl next to me lose her glasses and the worst thing you could lose is your shirt and yes I have seen that happen too. Back and Neck Injuries The Amusement Parks get lots of injury complaints daily and most of them are neck and back injuries. What most people don't understand that the signs posted before you get on the rides will tell you that you have a risk of back and neck injuries and is you already have existing conditions please don't board this ride. They board the rides any how and expect to be alright. People without these existing conditions tend to injure themselves on these rides because they just understand how to ride a roller coaster. You should understand the risks involved before you board a coaster or any ride with an injury warning. Line Jumping Line jumping at any Amusement Park is not unheard of and many parks have security for this reason. Some even have cameras in the lines and when you are caught you would be ejected from the park and even get your season pass revoked. A famous park for line jumping is actually my own states Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. One year it was in danger of closing because of their rude clientel. No one wanted to attend the park for fear of an altercation which had happened often. Even some had involved knifes. The park worked hard to make it a safe place for families to go and line jumping there now is just not tolerated. Safaris Some Amusement Parks have a Safari for either you to drive through or take a guided tour that gets you closer to the action. Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey has a safari and I got to enjoy this as a child being so up close with the wild life. The monkeys would jump on your car and you could see so many animals so close to you. This did stop and when I went with my children all the animals were mostly locked up. This is due to people feeding the animals and sometimes even injuring them. There still are some animals loose and will walked up to your car like the lamas and ostrich. People don't realize it is very dangerous to feed these animals. So they feed them and when they are out of food the animals will turn on them. There are signs that warn you of this danger before you enter. You can view many of these attacks on YouTube. Bad Weather Another danger at an Amusement Park is really bad weather. It is hard to seek shelter in these places because there really isn't to many places you can go. It is very dangerous to be out in the lightening and really strong winds. One year we got to experiece this at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. We did not know that while we were in the park many tornados were all around us. We were right on Lake Erie which is said to produce it's own weather and on the night before we were there 2 water spouts came through the park. While waiting in line for a ride we noticed the lake start to turn green in color and could see lighting out in the distance. The wind started to pick up and we were told the ride was being shut down due to weather. We sat through a horrible storm for the rest of our stay and that was hours and hours. When it finally stoped raining it was 10pm. We went to the car for something to eat. The storm started all over again and we decided to leave. Little did we know how dangerous it was to leave that park. Our car was struck by lightening just a few moments later. We were a little disoriented and nervous but the great thing was I caught it on tape. Please try to take as little as possible with you in the parks and if you have to bring it leave it in a locker. You really don't need your cell phone in the park. What did we all do when they didn't exist? We enjoyed the day in the park without having to worry about losing your phone on a ride. It will be safer for everyone at the park. Heres the video of our night at Cedar Point Amusement Park. Also enjoy the dog gone truth
