Find Your 'Higher Purpose' To Propel Your Business Forward

Many of us trying to build either a brick and mortar or online business fall into a rut while chasing money and/or success. While these things may motivate us for a while, they will not sustain our business when things slow down. There must be something greater, deep within our being, which will keep us moving forward. I remember years ago receiving a small check (under $100) from a company I was in. It was disheartening to say the least, because I had worked hard the month before. But I had an unwavering belief in the products and the benefits they would impart to people who used them. I was on a mission, and possessed what I refer to as a 'higher purpose'. I took the focus off of me and money, and went out as a messenger of wellness. Money and success ensued as a direct result of this greater cause, and within a year I was approaching 6 figures with that particular business!

Interestingly, a gentleman who was crossline to me in that company was told by his sponsor that he would never earn any significant income trying to help sick people. The message was to go after business builders and focus on the financial rewards. That guy did not heed his sponsor's advice; he continued to try and help others with their health conditions. He got his income up to $6,000/mo. using this strategy. To him, this was significant income! But that was not his goal, it always was about helping people with health challenges.

In my case, there have been trials and tribulations over the past 17 years with my present company. The success and money part have not always been there. But I've always embraced a cause, a higher purpose. I'm a messenger of wellness; money is simply a by-product of the greater mission! Having this mindset makes the business much more enjoyable. For me, focusing on sponsoring, volume, rank advancements, etc. makes the business a grind. No more of that for me!

In closing, my best advice is the find a 'cause greater than yourself'. Ask yourself why you're really working in your present opportunity? If it's all about money and material wishes, you may find the long term prospects for success to be fleeting.

I leave you with this quote from Viktor Frankl, a holocaust survivor and prolific author:

" Don't aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to

miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as

the unintended side effect of one's personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself..."
