Physician Fired From Cleveland Clinic Speaks Out!

The director of the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Center was relieved of his duties last year following an article he wrote in the local paper. Within days of the article appearing in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Dr. Daniel Neides was told he no longer had a job at the famed medical center. So what was the reason for his dismissal? The article 'implied' a negative stance towards vaccinations. While Dr. Neides is by no means 'anti-vax', he did express some concern over certain preservatives used, particularly in the flu vaccine. Like many health care employees, Cleveland Clinic requires everyone working there to get the flu vaccine, or face termination. The wellness director readily took the vaccine, however, he did ask for the presrvative free version.

What ensued from that moment on was a whirlwind, to say the least. Dr. Neides developed flu-like symptoms which were quite severe for a 48 hour time period. When he discovered that a few of his colleagues had similar reactions, he decided to do a little investigating. What he found was that preservative-free actually means just thermisol-free (mercury); the vaccine still contains formaldehyde and other preservatives! So it was not truly free of preservatives, just mercury. He had been writing a health and wellness column for the local paper for about a year, and thought alluding to the preservative issue might be an interesting topic. The article also addressed some ways to detox; it was certainly not an 'anti-vax' article. This physician will tell you straight up that he is NOT anti-vaccine, but he is PRO-patient! He simply thinks there ought to be informed consent when it comes to vaccinations or any medical/pharmaceutical interventions for that matter.

Well his employer didn't see things that way. The article created a storm of controversy, receiving some 25,000 shares, compared to previous articles getting fewer than 100 shares! His piece had touched a nerve, and it involved MONEY! Hospitals and Big Pharma are not happy when you impact their pocketbooks in a negative way. He was told shortly after the article was published that he would not be working for the Cleveland Clinic any longer.

This unfortunate situation represents a serious problem with out health care system today. It seems the patient gets lost in the mix due to the pursuit of the almighty dollar. The conflict of interest is staggering. Thankfully, Dr. Neides landed on his feet and is now running a functional medicine clinic in the Cleveland area. Here he will blend both conventional and alternative medicine in order to truly help the patient achieve optimal wellness! We should all wish him the best in his new venture.

Here is an emotional and powerful speed he gave recently which offers an interesting perspective from a physician on the state of our health care system today
