What Does Providing Value Really Mean?

Have you ever wonder what does providing value really mean in the world of marketing?

"Stop pitching your opportunity to people. Give away value and you will attract them to you."

That's an almost over-used line in network marketing business today.

Being a Filipino and English is just my second language, I used to wonder what do they mean by that.

"Aren't we network marketers and internet marketers supposed to promote the products we sell?"

Then, I happened to see marketers trying to brand themselves as "go-to persons", and yet they ended up not making money at all.

I told myself, "They were trying to hold themslves from promoting their products, and now they're broke!"

Being not proficient by nature in English language, I got a hard time understanding what it really means.

"Give vaue. Provide value."

Then someone said, "Giving value means giving people something helpful to them."

That further confused me, "Aren't the products being promoted not helpful to my prospects?"

You just can imagine a Filipino guy having hard time trying to understand the meaning of this phrase.

"These gurus are just trying to make themselves look prim, they are not really helping network marketers sell products!!"

Then, I saw marketers yelling, "We're providing value!", and yet they're just pitching their opportunities which they think are "value" being given away.

So, what's providing value really is?

It only changed when I read a single line in a blog post, this single line explained it all:

"Providing your prospects valuable information, something they find helpful ACCORDING TO THEIR INTEREST".

Notice the letters in bold... "According to their interest", and not "your interest".

And that explained it all.

End of story.
