Marketing is A Process, Not A Project

Most advanced marketers know that it is more expensive to acquire new customers, than to nurture existing ones.

If you are new to the world of marketing, before you get sucked on promoting hit and run deals, pause for a moment and think of the first paragraph.

Not only that it is more expensive, but also harder. It is harder to acquire new customers, than taking care of existing ones.

Players in the traditional marketing world know this very well.

When I was a sales representative for a local pharmaceutical company, I saw my superiors hire new reps with taking care of existing clients as their only job description.

They will regularly visit existing clients, doctors, pharmacies, and hospitals. In their visits, they usually bring with them gifts and product literatures, for the purpose of reminding clients of the existing relationship.

Now, what works offline, maybe the same online.

If you want lasting success, you should forget about hit and runs, and taking advantage of others for quick bucks.

You should view marketing as a process, and not a project that's once over, move on and forget the client.

View it like a circle, where you move continuously round and round, and not a straight line where once you reach the end point, finished.

This is "strategic marketing". And this is essential for long term success.
