Are You Trying TOO Hard?

One of the many mistakes that I am guilty of, was trying too hard. I am kind of a laid back person, yet I was trying too hard to 'make the sale'.  

Do not confuse trying too hard with putting in the effort.  The 'trying to hard' that I am referring to was my neediness and perhaps hurriedness to complete the sale.  I came across as 'begging' for the sale.  


With me, my 'trying to hard' was a result of wrong FOCUS!   I was focused on one thing and one thing only...making that sale.  

This might sound good, but it is really bad.  

You and I need to always remember that you an I and our prospect need to get from point A to point B, and point B is the completion of the sale, BUT our focus needs to be on our prospect.  More specifically, our focus needs to be on how will our product or service help our prospect to solve their problems and/or fulfill their needs or desires.  
If you are 'trying to hard', simply change your focus!

FYI:  One of the biggest newbie obstacles or newbie mistakes is trying too hard.  Fortunately, it is easy to fix.

Speaking of trying too hard, three old gents, Matt, Ted, and Hank were have a conversation.  Matt and Ted  were discussing how hard they were trying each morning just to perform their normal bodily functions.

Matt, who is 75, complained, "For the last few years, I wake up at seven AM sharp, go straight to the bathroom and take about 20 minutes to pee."

Ted, who is 80, said, "I get up at eight AM and take almost an hour to have a bowel movement."

Hank, who is 85, joined in, "I pee at seven every morning and poop at eight
without a problem."  

"So why are you telling us?" asked Matt.

Hank continued, "I do not wake up until nine."
