5 Reasons People Don't Buy!  MTNUT

If you know the five reasons or objections why people do not buy, if you know how to  overcome these objections, then what?  You would sell more, right?  

Of course, so please read on.

What is MTNUT?  Mount NUT is an easy way to remember the five reasons.

Money
Time
Need
Urgency
Trust

Money is NOT a real objection.  Most people have the money.
Time is also NOT a real objection.  People can and will make time.
Need is an objection.  One of the steps of selling is to 'create the need' or 'show the need'.  When you hear 'No need.', your prospect is simply tells you that you have not sufficiently created the need or shown the need.

Urgency is helping the customer see why they need it now and not later.  
Trust is a factor in most sales.  Sometimes you need to help your prospect build trust in your product or company, but most of the time, you need to help them build more trust in you.  

FYI:  Use MTNUT in your presentation, NOT in setting the appointment.  

Spending a few minutes 'chatting' or 'breaking the ice' is a step towards building trust. Find common ground...remember FORM...chat about your prospect's Family, Occupation, Recreation or Motivation.  

I worked with a couple of the best sales dogs in my field and wondered how they could possibly be super salesmen when they were not 'selling'.  They were selling...selling themselves...building trust.  

FYI:  I am not a 'natural' at sales, but it became natural over time with effort and study.  I share this because I feel that it is proof that anyone can learn sales if they want to.

Remember that:

No time and no money mean 'you have not sold me, yet'.  Add more gain or pain.
'I do not needed it' means 'show me how I need this'.  

'I'll think about it' or 'I'll get back to you' means you need to create urgency.   Add more pain.

Gain = Benefit,  Pain = Loss.

The Cat Sale

An art collector notices a scraggly cat drinking milk from a saucer in the doorway of an old shop.  He realizes that the saucer is very valuable, so he walks into the shop and offers the shopkeeper five dollars for the cat.

“I am sorry, but my cat is not for sale."
