Are you familiar with a comedian known as 'Lonesome George'?

Lonesome George is the nickname of George Gobel.  He is best know for his TV series, The George Gobel Show which aired in the 1950's.   In 1955, Gobel won an Emmy Award for "most outstanding new personality".

George's humor is different but marvelous.  George combined a quiet and homespun style with  a shy, almost hesitant delivery.  He added his brand of dry humor and a some what of a deadpan expression, all of which had his audience wanting for more.

As you see above, many of George's TV shows started with him very breifly playing a guitar, then getting sidetracked into a hilarious story.

The following episode is a bit different.  It begins with 'NO SHOWS'.  Watch and you'll see, but, be careful, you just might get hooked on Lonesome George.  He is considered to be one of the best of his day.

No Shows!

While George's No Show problem is hilarious, your no show problem and mine are not so funny.  What can you and I do about No Shows?

Sell the appointment and only the appointment.

Do not sell your product or service, sell the appointment.  Do not oversell, when you get a yes, END your conversation.  Once you get a commitment, get necessary information and END your conversation....Great, you spell your name?.... and your email is? ....OK, thanks, I'll see you or  talk to you tomorrow at ___.

Be confident and enthusiastic and SMILE.

Whether you are on the phone or in person, confidence, enthusiasm, and yes, a smile, will come through.  If you need help with this, try reading my post, 'If you don’t FEEL enthusiastic, ACT enthusiastic'.

Confirm your appointment.

Send an email, text, or call to confirm the appointment.  If you call, have a reason...HUH?  I am calling to remind you of our appointment and...your reason...I wanted to be sure that I have your name spelled correctly for your name tag...I want to remind you to be in front of your computer for the webinar or presentation...I will be calling you 5 minutes early so we have time to login, etc.

Bonus!  More George:

Some of George's one liners:

“I've never been drunk, but often I've been overserved.”
“If inflation continues to soar, you're going to have to work like a dog just to live like one”
“Did you ever get the feeling that the world was a tuxedo and you were a pair of brown shoes?”
“College is a place to keep warm between high school and an early marriage.”
“My uncle was the town drunk - and we lived in Chicago.”
“Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today -- for tomorrow's gonna be bad enough as it is.”

Thank you for reading, my friends, I wish you much success and very few no shows.
