77 Cents Short!

empty pockets

The following short story is original but loosely based on a Readers Digest story that I read a few months ago.  Enjoy.

Marigold (Mary) Turner is 87 years young.  She is still totally independent and loves it that way.  Mary says the Lord has promised 120 years and she intends to hold him to that promise.  She lives in town and walks to get whatever she needs.

A few weeks ago, Mary was at the grocery store.  She had purchased a few needed items to get her through to the end of the month and was at the check out register.  When the clerk had rung everything up, she discovered that her total was 77 cents more than she had.

Unfortunately Mary lives social security check to social security check, so she does not have the luxury of pulling out a check that would not bounce or a credit card.  As she stood there, deciding which item to put back, the gentleman behind her bent over and seemingly picked up something off the floor.

"I believe that you dropped this." he said, as he handed her a dollar bill.

hand giving

Giving!

Giving is an essential part of success.   Just as real as the 'Law of Attraction' is the 'Law of Reciprocity'.   Both laws go hand in hand.  This means to give with no thought of credit or recognition or repayment.  This kind of 'giving' is giving of yourself or your time rather than your money.

Lofty altruism may not be your motivation, and that is actually OK.  You simply may have a hole in your success formula and 'giving' will  help to fill that hole.   The following  might help you about deciding to make 'giving' a part of a new you.

Start with a goal to 'give'' at least once a day for 30 days.  After 21 days, a daily action becomes a habit...my  reasoning is... if giving is needed for your success, then you might as well make it a habit.

Even if you or I give for all the wrong reasons, it still works!  HUH?

The key is to GIVE, the rest will follow.  Giving for the right reasons or the wrong reasons is not really what is important.  What is important is that you and I give.

woman feels great

Each time you and I give, a number of small miracles happen.

  • you will feel GREAT
  • you lower your blood pressure
  • you lower your stress levels
  • you feel happier
  • you increase your self esteem
  • you will find that you become thankful to be able to give
  • you will unlock an inner peace
  • you will live longer

The bottom line is that you will soon discover that 'giving' is wonderful, in fact, it is addictive!  Your reasons for giving (good or bad) will dissolve.   Giving for the sake of giving will be the end result.

I believe that since giving helps our self esteem, it may help us (you and  I) to now feel 'worthy' of success.  Thus, you and I can allow ourselves to succeed.   Of course, Giving Always Results in Receiving, the Law of Reciprocity.

Conclusion:

Giving is part of success, it may be the essence of success. This is not just a fact, it is the LAW (of Reciprocity).  Whatever your reasons for deciding to give, you simply need to get started.  You'll be glad you did!

Thank you for reading, my friends, I wish you much success and giving.
