When creating the foundation of your website (your individual pages), it's in your best interest to list your main keyword terms in your title, and meta tag area of your site. And also, include them sparingly throughout your article.

If you have a video blog, or the basis of your website is based around having videos instead of written content... then keywords still matter here.

It's important that you do this because the search engine robots need to know what your pages are all about. And if you have a collection of webpages that are all centered towards a particular theme, then your entire website will be viewed as a site that is all about the keywords that you're ranking high for.

This means a lot. It'll make it easier to rank your site appropriately in the search engines, and more than this...it'll help to brand yourself as an authority figure in your niche.

Imagine if you had a list of people frequently visiting your site each day to view your content. Your website traffic would explode, and the amount of money that you make from your site will more than likely increase.

So strategic search engine marketing is important if you want to get more traffic, and boost your overall profits that your sites make. If you've ever heard of the term "keyword density", then I'm confident that you have a slightly clue about how search engine optimization works.

Keyword density basically refers to the frequency of how often you mention your main keyword term in your article. Generally, you will want to strive for a keyword density of around 3%.

This means that for every 100 words on your site, about 3 of them should appear in your article. The same thing kind of applies to writing your website titles.

You want your main keyword term or phrase to appear (preferably) at the very beginning of your webpage title. It does good things for the search engine robots, and for the people who browse from listing to listing in the search engines.

Typically though, you should be doing this for the browsing users online. It's better to write for them than it is to write for the search engines. So keep this in mind.
