Nopalea Cactus Juice Natural Pain and Inflammation Relief I have always wondered why there is so much advertising of health related products in the media today, it would seem that everyone from children to adults is in need of supplements and pills to keep disease at bay and live a better life. Yes science provides a better understanding of the likes of inflammation which has been tied to life threatening diseases such as cancer, dementia, stroke, heart disease, and diabetes. But a lot of the cause is self inflicted, its is what we eat and the way we live. Take inflammation for example, a little inflammation is good, it is how a healthy body responds to injury and protects you. As a wound heals the inflammation subsides, but sometimes the inflammation does not subside because of ongoing trauma. So what are the causes of bad inflammation, the most likely are pollution from the atmosphere, car exhausts and smoking, or else from what we eat or lack of exercise. We've learned that abdominal fat tissue is a hotbed of inflammation that pours out all kinds of inflammatory molecules, says Dr. Peter Libby of Harvard Medical School. Losing excess weight lowers levels of C-reactive protein, an indicator of inflammation. This can be achieved in a matter of weeks. Another Harvard medical professor, Christopher Cannon, advocates an anti-inflammatory diet—high in whole grains, unsaturated fats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish, poultry, eggs, and some dairy. To reduce inflammation we need to remove the cause as soon as possible, this might mean giving up smoking changing your diet and taking up exercise. We have legs for walking, so use them instead of taking the car, give up late night movies and TV dinners, instead sit a table and share a family meal together David Ogden
