A Gift For A Mother
As this Mothers Day comes to a close, I would like to post just a few last thoughts for the day.
Having children ranging in different ages, I find that I have different thoughts on what type of gifts (if any) that would be appropriate for them to give me. (if they feel it in their heart to do so).
Now, let me take a moment and specify my remarks in parenthesis.
First off and foremost, I NEVER expect anything. Of course, it is always nice to receive something for just being me, however, I always try to let my children know that it is not important to give any of the material things in life.
What is important is what you feel in your heart and for me, a hug and "I Love You", is always sufficient in my eyes.
However, I will share with you that as I look at each one and what they could possibly do with what they have, I came up with this, based on age.
For the younger children, (referring to around the age of my 5 year old) - a nice colored picture, scribbling, a little flower, etc. Plus a hug and kiss. This may vary depending on if they have attended school.
For the middle aged children, (referring to the ages of 13, 15 etc. such as my middle children) honestly, make sure their chores are done so I do not have to spend "my Mothers Day" on their case about what they should be doing. Plus a hug and a kiss.
And for older children, (whether living at home or not, such as my 22 year old), I could always use a day off from cooking and wouldn't mind being treated to a meal, whether it is prepared by them or taken out to a decent restaurant. (Nothing extravagant, of course, but not McDonalds either. LOL)
I have never felt I was difficult to please. Usually when asked what I want for my birthday, Christmas, etc., I always seem to say something like, vacuum, new dishes, pot and pans, never anything personal.
They always get upset with me for this, but honestly, those type of gifts help me with what I do everyday. And I can always use what little help I can get.
The main thing here is, it doesn't matter what a person gets their mother, wife, partner, loved one, etc.
What matters is that you let that person know you care, and respect them for what they have done for you in life.
Everyone is different, and I just wanted to share my thoughts on this special day of the year.
For you mothers out there, I hope you had a good day and received the love you deserve in whatever form was appropriate to you and your family.
