The number one reason for low self confidence is FEAR.
Every time you start to feel that overwhelming feeling of fear of the unknown and the possibility of not being able to handle a situation, that is the time to react aggressively and think of anything and everything positive that you can use to battle those feelings of fear.
Take risks.
Go ahead and take those risks. Go out on a limb, you will never know you can do something until you try. Give yourself permission to fail. If you don't succeed, then chalk it up to an experience and learn from it. Wipe yourself off and go try it again.
Do what your heart desires.
Don't just sit there and wish you could do something but never do it for fear of failing or someone criticizing you. If you cannot be happy with yourself than you will not be able to help others or be beneficial to them in any way. Act as if it were impossible to fail and JUST GO FOR IT!
Keep telling yourself that it can be done, that you do have the ability to get it done. Again, if something happens along the way, adjust your course, correct your actions and keep going.
Know that it can be done, and you can do it.. you need to believe in yourself and know that you have the ability in you to get it done. If a mistake does happen along the way, do not dwell on it, just correct your actions as you go along.
Relax your fear away.
The moment you recognize the feeling of dread or anxiety creeping in during a situation, focus on relaxing. Relaxing your muscles is also a common anger management tip.
Substitute the feeling of fear with another "positive, feel good" feeling.
Think about anything that leaves you with a pleasant feeling or thought. Replace the feeling of fear with that pleasant feeling or thought.
Talk to yourself. Give yourself a good boost of confidence by reassuring yourself that you are going to get past your overwhelming feeling of fear. As soon as you identify a negative thought creeping into your mind, change your internal dialogue to reverse the thought and put a positive spin to it. Say to yourself, “I can handle this”, “I can do this”, “I will make it happen”.
You may also want to listen to some self confidence audios on a regular basis. These may also help change your negative thoughts and fears more quickly and positively.
Yes, it can be very frighting to be up in front of people that you need to give a presentation to or after all the training you have been through, now having to go out on your own for the first time to make that first sale.
You just need to keep thinking positive and know that no matter what, you will live to give it another try. Just don't give up. The more you work on overcoming your fear of any issues you may have, the more confidence you will build and before you know it, you will be able to coach others on how to deal with their issues.
