Have you ever had something taken away from you only to realize how much you appreciated it after it was gone?
Most of us have taken someone or something for granted. We only truly realized how much that person or situation meant to us after the fact.
We often waste way too much of our time and energy focusing on what we don't like, what we're worried about, or what we think needs to be fixed, changed, or enhanced. If we are not careful, focusing on all the “bad things” that are going on with us and around us, will eventually take over our lives and we will be doomed to live in a world of negativity and will find it difficult to ever see any hope or brightness for our future.
Do everything in your power, to put a stop to any negative obsessions that you may have. The sooner you do this the sooner you will find that the world isn’t all that bad. Appreciate what you have in front of you and not what you could or should have.
Okay, maybe you could think about what you could have long enough to make a plan on how you could possibly obtain getting it. That is, if it is obtainable. Don’t go overboard and be unrealistic to your certain circumstances. Some of us may have to work a little harder than others, or take smaller steps based on where you are in your life.
But, at least make a conscious effort to overcome you’re current way of thinking and maybe you will actually find that pulling yourself up from where you are currently in life is not as far down as you may have once thought.
No matter what business or situation you are in, I bet you can find someone who you can look at and if you let yourself, find out that those people are quite amazing and in their own way could teach you a thing or two about dealing with your life at hand.
They may actually be having it worse than you are and by noticing this, you realize that YOU may have something to offer them. Meanwhile, this is getting your mind off of your current situation and makes it where you are not sitting there being swallowed up in your own self pity.
If, perhaps, there is someone you are in contact with that may be doing better than you, or at least you see them as doing better than you, you may be able to look at them and study how they overcome their obstacles and deal with day to day situations. I say “seem to be doing better than you” because some people hide their personal lives very well, and may be having some inner struggles that they cover up very well from outsiders.
Be Grateful – Focus on the many blessings in your life and all that you have to be thankful for. Don’t take anything for granted. Just as soon as you do, something could change and you could lose it forever, never to get it back.
Choose Positive Thoughts and Feelings – Make a conscious decision to transform your negative thoughts and feelings into ones that empower you. Your negative thoughts will hold you back from growing your business or advancing your career.
Use Positive Words – Pay attention to the words you use with others, about things, and in speaking about yourself. Speak with the most positive words possible. If you use certain words enough, you will soon believe in those words. Make sure they are all positive, that way eventually your life will become positive.
Acknowledge Others – Focus on what you appreciate about the people around you, whether at work or at home. Let them know how much you appreciate them being in your life. Some people may have a difficult time with you saying “thank you” for simple things that they may do for you. But don’t let that discourage you. Deep down, I bet it really makes them have a brighter day also.
Appreciate Yourself – Celebrate who you are, what you do, and the many gifts and talents you bring to your business or family. Self-appreciation is not arrogance. It's an awareness of your own power and it's the key to self-confidence, success, and fulfillment.
Take the extra step to “pat yourself on the back”. Sometimes this will go along way when you are having a down day. You have got to keep it in your mind that you are a good person and deserve that “pat on the back” sometimes. Even if it is from yourself.
Another thing, you don’t have to wait until everything is perfect in what you are trying to accomplish. Or at least “perfect” as you think it should be. No matter how great someone may seem to you, NO ONE is perfect and trying to get everything “perfect” will do nothing but drive you crazy. BELIEVE ME!
So start now. Accept and appreciate all that you have right in front of you. Change what you can, and what you cannot change, be able to recognize that you cannot change it and go on with your life. Life is too short to “sweat the small stuff”.
The power of appreciation will help you grow your business or advance your career.
Remember, “it is all about You!
